History:

MexSIAM started its activities with the organization of the SIAM-SMM Session in the 34th Congreso Nacional de la Sociedad Matemática Mexicana. The motivation of such special session was to give colleagues on both sides of the U.S. - Mexico border the opportunity to make contact and collaborate. The session was again organized in 2002 by Barbara Lee Keyfitz, Humberto Madrid, Pedro Gonzalez Casanova and Pablo Barrera and in 2003 by Barbara Lee Keyfitz, Humberto Madrid, Pedro Gonzalez Casanova and Roger Knobel.

MexSIAM has been revided in 2018 to start activities in 2019. The current officers are Gerardo Hernandez-Duenas (president), Jorge X. Velasco-Hernandez (vice-president), Irma García Calvillo (secretary) and Daniel Olmos-Liceaga (treasurer). Gerardo would like to thank the President Elect of SIAM Lisa Fauci, the Executive Director James Crowley, the Executive Coordinator Annie Imperatrice and the colleagues Johnny Guzman from Brown University and Malgorzata Peszynska from Ohio State University for the help and support in reviving this section.

Among other activities, we will organize our annual meeting, workshops, advanced seminars and summer schools. We also plan to hold joint activities with the Colombia Section  of SIAM (CoSIAM).
